Sardinian Cavalcade



On the Italian isle of Sardinia more than 200 events are celebrated every year, but only a few of them allow the Italian people and the visitors to fully enjoy all the traditional customs of Sardinia at the same time and the same place. One of the most famous events is the Cavalcata Sarda, celebrated in the city of Sassari, which will take place on 1 May of 2010. Originally, it was a splendid show for the visiting royalty but, nowadays, it is one of the biggest cultural events in Sardinia; open to everybody who wants to be part of this amazing event.

The Cavalcata Sarda is divided into 3 main parts: the first one consists of a parade through the city centre streets on horseback. This parade is followed by a costume procession in which every participant wears the original dress of their native village. Finally, this Cavalcade features a race track on the edge of the town for equestrian races and stunts.
